THE FIRE IN A MINE.
(By Telegraph.—Press ' Association.)
GEEYMOUTH, Wednesday.
To-day volumes of smoke were pouring out at both ends of the Blackball tunnel. It is impossible to get inside now. It has been decided to turn Coal Creek, at the back of the mine, into the wiorkings by means of a water race, starting about fifty yard 3up the creek from the mouth of the tunnel, and by closing the working mouth to flood the mine. There is no difficulty in doing, this work, which will be commenced to-day. The closing of the mine is not likely to be so long- as was thoxight would be the case.
