Wind: Strong from between south-eabt, south and west at all places north or Thames and Manukau; galo from between south and north-east at places eastward of Thames, Taupo and Wellington; strong northerly winds between Manukau, Vvanganui and Nelson; st;«>ng north to east and south-east winds on the West Coast «f the South Island; and moderate to strong easterly winds elsewhere. Barometer: Fall everywhere. Sea: Heavy on West Coast north of Greymouth. and also north of cape EgmonC; heavy on Eastern Coast between Tauranga and Cape Campbell, moderate elsewhere.
Tides: Generally high. - Rain may be expected in all parts 01 th Waeniing rsignals for southerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria \an Dieman' Tiritiri, and for easterly gales at uapt Campbell. Farewell S«lt and Foulwind. Synopsis of the last 24 hours: Northward of Lyttelton and Hokitika, the barometer has been falling slowly but-It has risen a little in the South. Low pressure from west passed east of tne meridian of South Cape late yesterday. An extensive low pressure from nortn--west is approaching Cape Farewell, and there is also strong evidences • that there is low pressure^ about 200 miles'W.N.E. of East Cape, .travelling: to the south.
