Major Jackson, as you •'■ are no- doubt aware, was M.H.R. for Waipa, and lost his life whilst:.-i returning from his Parliamentary duties in Wellington. He left ins widow only a small property" in Kihikthi, and this property was. encumbered, and the rent that Mrs Jackson got fr6rn it was only nominal; A few moritha ago this property .was;'sold privately; for less 'than half its value,, and .now Mrs Jackson is left almost penniless, as well as being crippled with rheumatism. Taking into consideration what her late hus- ; band has done for New Zealand through the Maori war, and for his constituency , ;ii fti - Parliament, is it not only right that the Government should cpme to the aid bf his helpless widow?—l am, etc, ~.,,.,• 'VI •:•:.„ -~;'■ .SYMPATHISED.
