WAITEMATA COUNCIL.
r The monthly meeting of the Waifiemata County Council was held this morning at the county offices, Palmerston Buildings. Present:—Mr J. A. O'Neill (chairman), Messrs A. Bruce, E. W. Alison, Sinclair, Wilson, Hatfield, Cochran, and Phillips. Deputations.—lt was decided, on [hearing Mr W. Morgan, who attended on behalf of the residents of the district, to call for tenders for a bridge across the creek at Waikouhou, the residents to contribute £10. Mr V. F. Kerr-Taylor presented a deputation of the ratepayers of the Kaukapakapa outlying district, asking the Council to make the road between Waimauku ■and Woodhill passable for cart traffic, as they intended to cart milk to the Woodhill factory this season. The cost was estimated at £25. On the motion of the chairman it was decided ,to effect the necessary repairs. Insurance. —The treasurer's , action an insuring the Council's workmen in .the Ocean office-at the rate of 10/ per cent on £ 1000, the estimated wages for the ensuing year, was approved.
Damage to Roads. —The secretary Started that the cartage of pipes along fthe Council's roads to Niliotupu for the new water scheme of the City Council would seriously damage these roads. The tyres of several waggons (belonging to Messrs Winstone) used in the carting had been measured and had been found to be narrower than mas allowed by by-laws. After some discussion it. was decided to confer with His Worship the Mayor on the question. . . ' Drainage.—lt was decided to call for tenders for drainage near the Kaituna Bridge, Wharepapa. Bad Road.—Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons* wrote asking that the road from Helensville to Kaipara Heads be repaired.—Referred to Engineer and Councillor Phillips. . " Contract.—The contract of J.
