Horses: At the Haymarket on Friday we had a pood entry of very useful horses, and with few exceptions sales were effected at prices in favour of the vendors. Aged draught mares were in demand for country work and breeding, ana all of that class sold at £20 to £25 each. Strong hacka and buggy or bus horses were also in demand, and sold freely, ranging in price from £12 to £18; I'Shter hacks and-gig horses, £7 to £10. The thoroughbred stallion, Brigadier was sold under the hammer at 20 guineas, and the Clydesdale Young Roseberry we placed privately at a satisfactory figure. Hay and Straw: Less than the average number of loads to hand. Prices advanced, and straw sold at high values. On Tuesday prices ruled about the same as FriGrain etc.: No change to report in the local produce market, though oats are firmer down South. Maize, in good supply, sold at 2/4, ex wharf. Prime, chaff wanted at £3 per ton, ex rail. Good demand for seed oats. Manures at late values. Hides. Skins, Tallow, etc.: On luesday we offered and sold about the average quantity, but though competition was more animated, prices on the whole were similar to last week. Ox hides sold up to sd; cow. 33d; calf. 3Jd to 5d lb; sheep skins, to 4/1 for best butchers', and 3/ to 3/10 for lighter; lamb skins, 8d to 1/ each; tails. 2/1 dozen; horse hair 1/3 lb< bones 5/ cwt : rough fat, Wd lb; tallow, 10/6 to 18/ for ordinary; 20/ to 22/ for best. At Rernuera on Thursday there was about the usual number of dairy cow 3 yarded, and prices for those at profit rinsed from £3 10/ to £8 f/ each. The store pens were fairly well filled, and sold at late values. Fat and young calves, in average numbers, were better worth; fresh dropped, 3/ to 8/; medium, 10/ to 14/; good solid, up to £1 3/; no heavyweights penned; 58 sold. Fat cattle yarded in average numbers, and all of real good ouality were at late values, and brought from '£1 to £1 V lOOib: steers ranged in price from £7 to £i) 17/6; cows, £i to £8 10/ each; 210 sold. F.-t and fitore Sheep, in fair supply, were at late values,wethers in their wool bringing from 14/ to £1 1/; ewes W to 18/; shorn, 10/tJ to 13/u; tat lambs, 10/6 to 14/3; hoggets, 8/ to 14/ each; 1100 sold. Pigs, penned in larger numbers than of late", and mostly light weight, were at late 'quotations, porkers brought from 18/ to £1 10/; small, 5/8 to 13/; no heavy weights yarded; ICO sold. •■• At "Waiuku on Saturday there was a larger muster-- of stock thnn for some months past, which met with a ready sale, grown steers bringing from £5 to £5 15/; yearlings, £1 15/ to £2 10/; dry cows. -I 10/ to £3 12/8.
