On the course proper, where most of the work was done, Auld Lang Syne, going well within herself ran the Epsom Handicap distance in 1.50; Allinga, who easily beat Ampler and The Ringer, taking a second longer Melodian, ridden out, compassed a similar distance in a tick over 1.49. Dandy, after moving slowly, galloped a mile well within himself in 1.503. Rock of Ages was responsible for a good:mile, run in 1.51. There was nothing to choose between Reviver and Blue Metal at the end of a mile, finished in 1.51. St. Clare registered the fastest circuit of the morning, the time being 2.38 J. He walked away with a decided limp. Ace of Diamonds took 2.40 to negotiate the same journey.
