MAIN TRUNK LINES.

TELEGRAM FROM THE PREMIER

This morning the following telegram was received by Mr R. K. Hunt, secretary of the North Island Main Trunk Railway League, from the Right Hon. the Premier: —

"Yours of 30th is to hand. I trust that I am not to be held responsible for what is reported in the newspapers. I am pleased to know that fhe people of Auckland are gratified with what appeared in the Financial Statement. They may rest assured that what is there will be adhered to. I am as anxious as anyone in •A-ucklaon or Wellington to have those two large centres connected as soon as possible. —R. J. Seddon."
