ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

■The tan track was saturated with the rain yesterday morning, and it was very slushy. Nevertheless a number of horses performed strong work. Record Reign, who looks muscular and well, covered two slow rounds,, having.a light boy in the saddle. He seemed anxious to extend himself. Miss Delaval got through longhalfpace work. Beddington, Laetitia and Kosella (in company) covered a round nearly at top,, the trio moving freely. Ambition and Hastings ran five furlongs at top. St. .Paul and Bluejacket were associated in a strong gallop of once round, the last two furlong's being at their very best pace. The whips were out on both at the finish. St. Paul, who had the J.best of the gallop, looks as gay as a Mark. Winsome • moved nice and free in jhalf-pace work which was apportioned •her. La Gloria strode over a round at ; top, moving well. Minerva 11. and Firefly spurted at intervals on the best part of the tan. Both of these mares are very fresh and well, and they have greatly benefited from their winter spell. The Needle was restricted to medium pace Work. Volcano got through a. strong , "task. Seahorse, Zealous, and The labourer first cantered and they then put in five furlongs at top. Seahorse looks the picture of health. Stray bird Was among those on the cov-rse. He looks -none the worse for his trip. Hengist and Formula ran a round at top. Guardsvan, ' -who was getting through a light task on the tan, slipped and came down, but he was none the worse for the mishap. Begulus beat Toroa over once round. ' Dayntree, who looks well, and a great :■■' number of others were exercised. After breakfast a number of the two-year-olds were galloped on the course proper out- ■ Bide the trestles. Chantilly, Jewellery 'and Kissallne ran • three furlongs, the ■Necklace filly finishing home well. Rattler proved too good for Shellback and St. Margarette over 3£ furlongs.
