NEWMARKET.
There was no contest at Newmarket. The retiring councillors are Messrs J. Lumpkin, J. M. Laxon, and W. 0. Rose. The latter did , not seek reelection. Messrs Lumpkin and Laxon were re-elected, the new member being Mr W. T. Smith, of Glasgow Terrace.
