MOUNT EDEN BOWLING CLUB,

The annual meeting of the Mount Ed,eh Bowling Club was held last evening in the club's pavilion. Mr E. Mahony, president, presided,, and there was a good attendance of members. The annual report reacl by' the secretary (Mr C. G. Brookes) was of a. very satisfactory nature. The- club had 41 playing and 3 honorary members. During the past season the club had, entered three teams for the champion fours.apd penpant flag competitions, and their two teams that competed in the Northern Bowling TouEnai ment, though not at the top of the list, did not disgrace themselves. They played .15 matches in all.and scored 589 points" against . 599 scored against them. In the clock competitions the club team (skipped by B. Hoyte) carried off third place honours. Th«^ contests fo rthe club trophies were unsatisfactory, and the first year's players and handicap singles were struck out. The letters were received, and left for consideration. ■ : The President then presented the prizes won during the past season to the successful competitors:—Champion singles (president's trophy), won by Mr E. Hoyte; second prize (trophy presented by the late Mr Flaw), Mr C. G. Brookes. Club pairs: Trophy presented by Mr Hooper, and trophy same value by the club, Messrs Eady and Fergusson. Consolation singles: Trophy presented by the secretary (Mr Brookes), Mr A. O. Shipherd. D.C.L. Whisky fours: Pair of bowls, presented by Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co., as agents for same, two trophies presented respectively by the president and the club, and the winning, team tq provide, a third prize, won by Messrs H. O. Brown, Shipherd, Fergusson and Coe (skip). Mr E. Mahony (president^ Mr Brimblecombe and Mr Coe, announced their in* tentjon of presenting for competition three trophies to be called "The Empire," "The Maf eking" and "The Baden--Powell," to show their admiration of General Baden-Powell, and in commemoration of the relief of Mafeking. Votes of thanks to the lady friends of the club, the outgoing officers, and the press terminated the proceedings.
