HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable -.Aid Board was held at the Board's office this afternoon. The Chairman (Mr J. Bruce) presided and. Messrs A. P. Friend, Y. Warren, J. E. Taylor, R. Tudehope, J.,-Jamieson were also present. )

Costley Home.—The Secretary reported that a telegram had been received from Dr. Eccles, Mangonui, asking if a patient who was suffering from paralysis, bordering on insanity, would be admitted to the Costley Hotne. A reply was forwarded that he would not be admitted. A further telegram was received saying that the man was on board the Clansman, and asking the Board to admit the man if Dr McGregor, Inspector of Hospitals, made arrangement. The man being seriously ill had been admitted to the hospital. Mr Friend moved that Dr. McGregor be asked if he had made arrangements with the Mangonui County Council for a semi-lunatic to be admitted to the Costley Home, and if so on what authority. The. motion was agreed to. Gifts.—The Matron wrote that Mr Hemus, of the Sarony Studio, had presented the hospital with a photo shield of the nursing staff.—The Rev. A. H. Collins wrote stating that the con-gregation-had forwarded a doll's house and two dolls for use in the children's ward.—lt was decided to thank the donors.

Finance.—The Secretary reported that the receipts for the month had totalled £838, and the expenditure to £1699 14/8, the total debit balance being £1913 10/7.
