The football match Queehslftnd v. New South Wales ended iv a Win for the former by 8 points to nil.
CRICKET
ELLERSLIE CRICKET CLUB.
The annual meeting of above club was held on Thursday in Cairns' Hall, Mr F, W. Brown presiding. The minutes of last annual meeting were confirmed. The treasurer's balance sheet showed receipts to have been £7 17/6, Including a balance of 9/6 carried forward from last year. Expenditure totalled £7 0/3, leaving a balance in hand of 17/3. The balance sheet was adopted. Mr W. C. Walker was reappointed president Of the club, and Messrs F. W. Court, A. Cleave. W. L. Hunter. Lindsay Cooke, H. O. Nolan, W. F. Tucker, and Rev. F. W, Walker, vicepresidents. The following officers were then elected: Captain, C. H. S. McKlnney; vice-captain, F. W. Brown; secretary, .r. C. McKlnney (re-elected); treasurer, T. N. Peek (re-elected); committee, Messrs E. C. Brown, F. Hirst, G. Loomb, N. Porch, C. H. Treadgold, and the officers; selection committed, tho captain, secretary and Mr E, C. Brown. A proposal that the club enter the junior grade and take part in the association matches. If allowed to play half the games on their own around, was negatived, and it was decided to play matches as hitherto. It was generally agreed that moro enjoyment resulted from this course than in participating in the association fixtures. The captain (Mr C. H. S. McKlnney) notified his Intention of presenting a bat (manufactured from willow grown In the Auckland Domain) to Master N. Porch, who secured (easily) best bowling average during the past season. A match, Married v. Single, will be played on Saturday, September 22nd, to signalise the advent of the season, 1900-1. Afternoon tea and light refreshments are to be dispensed on the. occasion, and the club trusts to see a large muster of both male and female friends, especially the latter. Several improvements have been effected «rthe Ellerslie ground and surroundings during the off-season, and it will now compare favourably with any pitch outside the Domain.
