THE OPERA HOUSE.
The. Pollard Opera Company produced '.'The Belle of .\nv I'ork" last night with great success. Miss Gertie Campion anil Miss M. U'Suilivan were the recipients of lovely floral emblems.
Of all the musical comedies that have charmed playgoers during the last decade there is none so popular as "The French Maid," which wiJl be performed to-night. The reason of this is not far to seek. The plot is more coherent than is usual in this class of piece, the music is bright and tuneful, and the libretto is exceptionably clever, and is almost worthy of a Gilbert. This ever-welcome can only be staged to-night and to-morrow night, and will be replaced on Monday by another old favourite in Audran's melodious work, "Olivette."
There will be a matinee of "The Geisha" to-morrow afternoon. Special prices will be charged, and as a large number of seats have already been booked there is certain to be a crowded house.
