TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Sub-ploughing for New Orchard (Amateur).—You could not do a better thing than sub-plough the piece of ground you intend'to plant as an orchard. You ought to get it done before the wee weather sets in, as It will do the soil good to have it laboured in dry weather. After you have ploughed you will need to dig your hole.s for the trees deeper than the plough has- gone. The subplough will not, at the most, reach more than 10 inches, and the holes for the trees should be dug at least from 20 to 24 inches deep. The deeper they are dug, it will be all the better for the trees.
