John Franklin, a private in the 3rd Battalion Scots Guards, was eha'rged at Lrndon South-Western Police Court a few weelcs ago with deserting his wife and two children. The prisoner married his wife two years - rt gX), and deserted her in August last, iris whereabouts could not be traced umil bis mother-in-law had an extraordinary drtam concerning him. She dreamed era three successive nights, so it was stater!, that her son-in-law had enli&ted in the army, and she could see him in uniform on parade. She c-om-mim'eated this strange circimistnncc to her daughter, and wrote To the commanding officer at Chelsea I'm*, racks, through whose aid the prisoner was traced. ITe'had enlisted in tin--name of John Franklin Dutton :iiirl describee! himself as a bachelor. When arrested he stated he was unnblc to live with his wife owing, to hotmother's interference. The yvisnurr was sentenced to three months' hard labour.
