Shaw, of Auckland, was Hie ollicer who failed to pass the doctor's lest, and will not accompany tin1 troops. CONDITION'S OF ENLISTMENT. The conditions of enlistment of l!ie Fifth Contingent tire contained in the ; following signed agreement: "I, the above named, do sincerely promise and swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her .Majesty, Queen Victoria, and that 1 will faithfully serve Her Majesty both within and without, the colony, and for a period of at least one year from dale of arrival in Cape Colony, or until I shall be lawfully discharged." The Conner accepted, but the latter could not make his :irrangeinenl in lime lo catch the boat, so the Premier has decided to ask Major llohin to appoint one of his own contingent. Five hundred of the contingent and civilians were present at the luncheon on Saturday.
