| The Government poultry expert, Mr D. D. Hyde, arrived in Auckland to-day, where he intends to make a stay of a tew days in connection with the grading and distribution to ap- ! plicants of the purebred poultry reared at Motuihi Island during the past season. Mr Hyde informs us that the. department have received so | large a number of orders for birds : that it will be somewhat difficult to fill all requirements, and he is anxious that local poultry keepers should be suppleid with what they want before any of the stocky now here are sent away south to applicants in other parts of the .colony. Anyone desiring to obtain purebred birds for crossing purposes should send in their applications to the Stock Department, Customs-street, at once in order to secure what they may require. Mr Hyde will be pleased while in Auckland to give information to anyone intending to breed and feed fowls for shipment to London. Very few poultry have come to hand from the Northern districts suitable for the frozen poultry trade, and he would like to give what assistance he can to induce settlers to take up this business in a systematic way. Mr Hyde will probably remain in Auckland most of the pre- ; sent week.
