THIS DAY. p. , (Before Mr H. W. Brabant, S.M.) Drunkenness.—For this offence Maud Hartnell was fined 20/, in default 7 clays' hard labour. John Robertson and Annie May Thomas, 10/, or 48 hours each. Five first, offenders were convicted and discharged. Henry Bosser was fined 10/, or 48 hours, for drunkenness, and sentenced to 14 days' hard labour for cotnmiting a grossly indecent act in a public place. By-law Cases. —David Patterson was fined 5/ and costs (7/) for leaving , a carriage unattended, and Robert Scott 5/ and costs (7/) for driving round a corner at other than a walking pace. Remanded. —George Scott was remanded till the 2Gth inst. on a charge of stealing £10 worth of wool, the property of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency. Bail was allowed, accused In £20 and two sureties in £10 each. Thomas Barrett, charged with assaulting Daniel Baxter by striking him on the head with a bottle, was remanded till Saturday next, Baxter not having put in an appe-arauce. Obscene Language.—Robt. Notton was convicted of using obscene language in Vermont-street, and was ordered to And sureties for his good behaviour for three months.
