THE COMMAND.

WELLINGTON, Sunday.
The Government has decided lo divide the Fourth Contingent into two sections. Lieut.-Colonel Francis, with the rank of major, goes in command of one, and Captain Da vies, now at tiie Cape with the First Contingent, will be promoted to the command of the second portion. Colonel Newall goes in command of .the Fifth Contingent as far as Capttfown, and-will hand the men over to the Imperial authorities in accordance with the arrangements arrived at. WELLINGTON, this day. The following appointments are announced to the Fifth Contingent: — No. 1 Company: Captain Abbott, senior lieutenant, Tuckey. No. s Company: Captain Tanner, formerly of the Rhode-sian Horse, South Africa; senior lieutenant -Rose orf tlije "D" Battery. Lieut. Ilaseklen, son of the S.M., has gone into camp. At the request of the Mayor of Napier the Napier, Marlborough and West Coast men. of the Fourth Contingent- will be kept together as ono section.
