OBITUARY.
LONDON. March-If.
Sir Frederic Burton, artist, arid formerly president and director of the National Gallery, is dead, aged S4. He was born in Ireland- in ISl_, and educated at Dublin. Since 1563 he had been a Fellow of the Soeietv of Antiquities. In IBS 4he received' the honour of knighthood, and in ISS9 the hon. degree of LL.D. of Dublin.
