In- the House of Commons Mr Balfour said America, in response to requests, from Presidents Steyu ana ivruger, had offered Britain friendly aid in the interests of x^eaco. Lord Salisbury, while thanking- America for her friendship, intimated that lie had no intention .of accepting inter* vention from tiny Power.
This statement was received with prolonged Ministerial cheers.
PAULS, March 16,
M. Deleasse, Minister for Foreign Affairs, speaking- in the Senate, said Lord Salisbury's reply to the Presidents' overtures precluded intervene tion. In his speech at the Guildhall in- declined beforehand either arbitration or conciliation.
