There was again a very large audl* enee at the City Hall last evening, when a most successful and enjoyable , periormance was given, to the satisfaction of all present. To-night a very attractive and appropriate programme, including a number of Irisli songs, etc.,, will be given. Messrs Lennon, Hyman and Lennon, Jlr Frank York, and the Williams Sisters will appear in fresh items, and the latter will dance an Irish jig. "The Wearing of the Green" will be.sung, wi-th full chorus, and a .number" 9* novelties will be introduced.
This evening at the Opera House a, pictorial display of the Boer war will be given by the Edison Kinematograph Company. Included will be a number of new films showing the yew Zealand Contingent in action. A sexies of pictures of the British and Boer generals will also be shown, and a number of vocal and instrumental selections will be given by means of Edison's Collosophone. The entertainment, promised should prove very interesting.
The concert held under the auspices of the Hibernian Society last evening drew a crowded attendance at ,ss; Opera House. The audience were most enthusiastic, and showed their appreciation of the programme by encoring the majority of the items. Miss Annie Lorrigan sang "The Last Kose of Summer," "There's a Happy Day Soon Coming" (music by Father Kehoe); and "Erin, My Country," with marked success, and Miss Coleta Lorrigan was heard to advantage in "Dublin Bay-" Mr G. M: Reid's rendering of "The Minstrel Boy" was loudly encored, and his other song "The Low Backed Car" was also well received. Mr Toner, sang "Eory Darlin'," and "Come Back to Erin" most effectively, adding "Off to Philadelphia" as an encore to the former item. Other items on the programme were: Song, "The Wanderer" (with chorus), Miss Nellie McGuire; song, "Killarney," Miss Jenkinson; songs, "The Goodwin Sands" and "The Gladiator," Mr Arthur Dobbs; song, "A Nation Once Again," Rev. Father Hills, S.M., of Wellington; mandoli» solo, "Irish Airs," Mr Charles M<JFarlane; chorus, "Ireland I Adore," by pnpils of St. Patrick's Convent Schools;; overture, "Gems of Ireland;'* waltz, Thoughts of Home," and quickstep "Double Eagle," by an orchestra under Mr J. Ewart. Miss Ada Yates acted as accompanist, assisted by Misses McGuire and Quinn.
