FIRE.

WELLINGTON, this day. A new building in Victoria street, recently erected for the Wellington Biscuit and Confectionery Company was burned early this morning. The iire at the biscuit factory, which is a large two-storey brick building with a basement, was confined to the top flat, most of which was burned out. The stock i n the other parts was damaged by water, bufc the machinetry was unharmed. A quantity of machinery in the top storey was destroyed. The building was insured in the Commercial Union for £1500. half rein<mred in the New Zealand, and the plant in the New Zealand for £1000; stock, £500 each in the Royal, Exchange and National.
