NORTH ISLAND BAND ASSOCIATION.

WELLINGTON, Thursday
At the Band Contest, in the solo competition for B flat cornets, Mr E. T. Code, of Melbourne, acted as judge, and gave his award as follows: —J. Parker, Wellington, .100 points, 1; J. Richards, Deniston, 93 points, 2; B. Cosgrove, Waipawa, 91 points, 3; F. Hopkinson, Deniston, SS points; T. Pelham, Wellington, SO points; C. A'iolich, Wellington, 73 points; D. Coyle, Wellington, CO points.
At the annual meeting of the North Island' Band Association the Governor, Premier, and Mr E. D. McLean, were re-elected patrons. Mr M. Cohen, of Palmerston, was re-elected president. The following- executive was appointed:—Messrs A. E. Laiirence (Woodvine), J. T. Russell and J. Crichton (Wanganui), F: Butler (Palmerston North', C. T. Russell (Nelson), F. O'Conor (Napier), T. Herd and C. It. James (Wellington). Mr F. J. Oakes and A. J. Bennett were re-elected lion, secretary and treasurer respectively. WELLINGTON, this day. The band contest last night was confined to pieces chosen by the bands themselves and lasted till after midnight. No award was made, as the points in this section are taken into account when the final selection is placed to-morrow night. There were five entries for the B flat solos: Da vies, Wellington Garrison, 8"> points; Hig-gins, N.E. Valley, 73: Baker, Wellington, 00; Ilolben. Palmerston North, and Butler, Petone, C 5. Nearly £200 has been taken at the band performances on the Basin Reserve,
