Wind: Northerly gale, changing by west at all places northward of Kalkoura and Hokitikn; westerly gale, changing by south, elsewhere. Barometer: Further fall at all places northward of Kaikoura and Hokitika, but rising after 32 hours; rise soon thence southwards. Sea: Heavy on all Western Coast, and on East Coast southward of Napier. Tides: High on Western Coast north of Westport and Foxton, and on East Coast south of Napier; moderate at all other Ham is to be expected in all parts of the country. Warning signals for northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria. Van Dieman and at Tiritiri, and for westerly gales at Capes Campbell, Fouhvind. and Farewell Sp:c. Synopsis of the lust 24 hours: Decreasing pressure everywhere, especially southward of Kaikoura and Hokitika, and strong winds to Rale from the northward have'been prevalent southward of Napier and Wn.ngar.ui, with rain in parts of the South Island. . Low pressure from the west is passing eastward of the meridian of South Cape, and one will also pass on the 19th. l*n» settled weather with igh westerly winds will be prevalent on 22nd inst.
