WAIKATO NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SPORTS AT NGARUAWAHIA. Great interest is being- taken in the sports meeting to be held at Ngaruawahia on Easter Monday. A programme, which will include the following events, has been decided upon:—-Maiden race, Ngaruawahia Cup of three distances, half-mile, mile, 120 yds hurdles, boys' and girls' races, . greasy pig, sack race, obstacle and sack races,, and a bicycle event. A concert arid dance will be held in the evening after the sports. RIFLE MATCH AT PIRONGIA. ] On Saturday last the No. 2 Company of the Walkato Mounted Rifles fired a match for a silver cup presented for competition ! by Mr D. Ross, and once more F. Steele ' proved himself to be the best shot in the ■ troop, winning the cup with the fine score of 66 points. The following are the scores: ' —Vol. Conn, 30; Vol. Sing, 51; Corp.
