UNIVERSITY SENATE
WELLINGTON, February 27. The University Senate opened this morning-. '[.'lie chancellor delivered his annual address. .The income, for the year amounted to i'7l.'!.'; and expenditure was £0504, leaving a balance of £(329. Ho referred to the steady growth of influence and prosperity of (lie University, and congratulated the Semite on inaugurating1 the University College in Wellington, which has completed its first year with a large number of students. He stated the University was now in a position to extend its scholarships should the Senate consider the time opportune. With the address several papers were laid on the table, also numerous questions for consideration by the Senate.
