At the Ponsonby school on February '28th, the committee, teachers, and children attending' the school assembled for the purpose of bidding farewell to their headmaster, Mr B. Bailey, who is retiring- after twentyfive ..years' service .in the position. Mr J. Jtees, chairman of.. the Ponsonby schools, committee, presided, and presented Mr .Bailey, on behalf of the committee, teachers and children, with an exceedingly handsome solid silver tea service, as a token oi 'their esteem, Mr Bajiley was then pi-e----sented with two.addresses, one from the-staff and one from the scholars. Mr Bailey feelingly, replied, and said that though he Avould be glad to have a rest, yet he was indeed sorry that this would, be the last time he would address his teachers and pupils. He hoped the school would continue to hold a foremost place among the Auckland schools. Mr Bailey then wished them' good-bye, and asked them to join in singing "God Save the Queen," . which - was heartily done.
