The Herald's correspondent says that the largest losses among the horses at the front have been caused by their eating a small tulip plant. It does no harm till the animal drinks. Then, however, gases are re-leased which cause the stomach to burst. Many horses have been killed by the extreme variations in climate. The Argentine horses replacing those lost, are poor spirited mongrels, and won't do an honest day's work two clays running.
