COROMANDEL, this day
In the Magistrate's Court, this morning, before Messrs J. 13. Kockclift' and M. D. King, Justices, -a young man named Wtn. Clarkin was charged with the theft of a £5 note, the property of Mr F. G. Niccolson. Constable Law appeared for the prosecution, accused being mi defended. Evidence was given in support of the charge by 11. W. Swales, F. (!. Niccolson, and Constable Law. The Bench sentenced the accused to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour.
Mr Whitehouse visited Coromandel and exhibited theatrophone and kinematograph at the Caledonian Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to crowded houses. ■ The kinematograph pictures shown were excellent, and the audience was greatly pleased with the wonders of the theatrophone.
