RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Raglan County Council met at NEtaruawahia on Wednesday last.

The Receiver of Land Revenue forwarded a schedule of thirds for the halfyear, showing the amount available to be £319 15/.

The Commissioner of Crown Lands notified the Council that it was impossible for him to give his consent in the matter of the road through Messrs McKinuon's and Nicholl's land, as he could not over-ride an Act of Parliament.

Mr Thos. Burd, Government Road Surveyor, wrote approving of the specifications for the Waitetuna Bridge.

Mr Samuel Hall wrote throwing up his contract for side cutting near Elgood's, and requesting some allowance for work don©.—The application was refused, and the Council decided to forfeit his deposit.

The Treasury Department forwarded vouchers for £100 for the Churchill punt, £200 for the Raglan-Waipa Road, and £100 for the Walngaro-Te Mata Road. A voucher for subsidy amounting to £231 7/G was received from the Treasury Department.

The Council resolved to issue furze notices to all property-owners who had neglected to clear their frontages.

The Clerk was directed to write to the Mine and Marine Department re the pumlce, sand, etc., poured into the river at Ohinewai.

It was decided to put in. a crossing on the road leading to Mr Pretty's, and to clear a track to Waikowai, and expend the sum of £5 on the roaa near Mr Cogswell's.

Mr W. T. Lutener was appointed ranger for the Huntly West District.

The following tenders accepted since last meeting were confirmed:—Metalling the Matakitaki Road, Messrs J. and D. Shaw, £4 per chain; Kerikeri Road, Hone Rawhlri, £21; cleaning Whatuwhatu Bridge, W. Higginson, £4 10/ per annum, and 2d per lineal foot for repairing; clearing the Te Rore Bridge, F. Bolton, £1 10/ per year; Allen's Road, Hone te Rua, £35.

The Treasurer reported the balances of accounts as follows:—Karamu Riding, cr. £34 10/4; Te Akau Riding, £38 13/9; Onewhero Riding, dr. £41 1/10; Pirongia Riding, dr. 11/9; Karioi Riding, dr. £465 3/5; Waingaro Riding, dr. £173 4/2; Whangape Riding, dr. £320 2/7; general account, dr. £1143 7/4; land fund, cr. Karioi, £8 18/8; Karamu, cr. £52 11/9; Onewherp, £20 16/5; Pirongia, cr. £15 8/3; Waingaro, £108 19/3; Whangape, cr. £243 14/; harbour account, cr. £15 8/4.

Notice was given of rates as follows:— General rate, Waingaro, gd; Pirongia, -Id; Karioi, 3d; Te Akau, i&; Karamu, 3d; Whangape, gd; Onewhero, :Jd; Hospital and Charitable Aid rate, £d; separate rate, Karioi, Jd.

On the motion of Cr. Whiteside it was decided that the whole cost of the expenditure on the Raglan-Waipa Road should be borne by the Karioi, Te Akau, and ICaramu Ridings. Thirty chains of reforming on the Rag-lan-Waipa Road was authorised, and £15 voted for expenditure on the Karamu main road. £10 was granted to the Onewhero Road Board.

The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the Northern S.S. Company re wharfage, and to give the deputy wharfinger three months' notice that his office would be terminated.

A rebate of £G was made to Mr J. C. McFarlane, lessee of the Huntly punt. Accounts amounting: to over £300 were passed for payment.
