CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION

; WELLINGTON, this day. The award of the Compensation -t Court in the matter of the claim of £14,500 made by McLean Bros, for the deprivation of their freehold, and leasehold interests on Kapipi Island .and for damages for loss through, i forced sale of stock, etc., through the Government taking1 over the island, was announced this afternoon by the Chief Justice. The claimants were awarded £1125, each party to pay, their own costs and also their own assessors. The fee of each, assessor was fixed at £21. The. Court stated it would not allow claimants iany; costs on account of the excessive amount of their claim. ■;.'■;• ■;-,•:."■'
