ROUGH RIDERS

The camp of the Rough Riders was visited by a large number of people yesterday afternoon. The uniforms "and horse equipments were served out -to .the men in the morniii.r.- His Excellency Lord Ranfurly and Eurl Beauchamp visited the camp yesterday, together with the Ministers now in Auckland and Col. Pole-Penton.- The party remained till about three p.m., and Avere heartily cheered by the contingent on their departure. Mr H. S: Atkinson, • who is going with the Rough Riders, has been presented Avith a horse by the staff of the National Bank. The members, of the Coiftingent Avish to thank Mr George Lorain, of ' Opitonui, Northern Brewery, Mr A. 'Myers,'and Mr Can- (Epsom Hotel) for i barrels of beer; Mrs Montgomery, | Opitonui, for books; Mr. Shackelford and -Mr E. C. Brown for braces; Messrs i Smith and Caughey, for towels; and JMr.J.H. Phillpot' for 16 copies of i "Sonsof the Empire." After the sports on Saturday afternoon the ladies of Epsom presented each of the men Avith a smoker's comfort. There hearty cheers were given for the ladies. Yesterday Mrs Banks and the ladies of Auckland presented each trooper A.'ith three pairs of socks, three cholera belts, a canvas brush bag, and a houseAvife's friend.
