THE FOURTH CONTINGENT.

NAPIER, Tuesday,
At a .meeting1 of the ITawke's .Bay Third Contingent Committee, it was resolved that the Government be communicated with to ascertain if they would accept a Ilawke's Bay detachment for the Fourth Contingent now being' raised, and if .so, how many men. It is understood that a transport will be provided for the next contingent, and if so the committee will have funds to equip and deliver on board the transport about 30 men and horses.
DUNE-DIN", Tuesday
The Minister for Public Works told the men in camp that their departure would take place between March 24 and 28.
The Governor is to be invited to take part, in the proceeding's connected with the departure of the Fourth Contingent. Colonel Pole-Pen tor. had a long- talk with the Organising' Committee this morning, and subsequently visited the
camp. It is expected that at least one of the warships will be at Port ChaJmers when the troops leave.
