TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB riPKIXG MEETING. The Spring Meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was brought ro a success* j'ul conclusion on Saturday last. There was a large a-ttendauee, and some close and exciting racing. During the afternoon the good sluu of £7Li-N was passed through the totalizators, making' a grand total of £ 13,iHJIi for the two days. The gathering was well inana.a'ftrl by Mr itobert Wyn.vard, the popular .secretary of the club. Mr Geo. Head timed the various races efficiently. After the Hurdle Race the stewards were called together to consider the running of I'okonioko. Mr I. Keith, the owner, in evidence said the gelding ran over twice as much ground as any .horse in the race. He thought the rider made too much use of him. He had £?,0 invested on the horse. P. Lind, the rider, said he had seen Pokomoko stop worse Than he had Mint day. He always stopped under the whip. He had seen the horse run in twelve races. Drvntreo was first to draw out, being followed by Roxana and Rex, and- there was no alteration in places when the stand was reached. Running out of the straight and up the back of the course Dayntree increased his advantage, Llllle running into second place, then followed Roxana and St. Ursula. Dayntree con^ tlnued to howl along in great style and reaching the straight first he ran horaa an easy winner by three lengths from Lillie, a similar distance between second and third. Halbadier was fourth, then followed Roxana, St. Clements and Rex with Porangi Potae last. Time, 1.44 4-5. Dividends: Inside, £10 9/; outside, £12 15/. Totalisator 1250.

Previous to the start Nora reared up and Umded over the rails into the ditch, but sho got off uninjured and started in the race. Nora and Mimoa made the runnim; into the straight, but half way down Texas joined issue and a most exciting finish home ended in the latter, who was next the rails, winning by a head from Nora. St. Peter ran up to the leader and he was level with Little Wonder in the run tip the back of the course with Cuirasette, and Red Lancer next. St. Peter had a length, the* bent of Cuirasette at the head of the straight, with Reel Lancer coming fast on the outside. A very exciting- set to took place between the trio, who ran almost level at the distance, but Cuirasette stuck to her task to the'end and won by half a length, with a neck beween second and third, then came Picklock, with Toroa last.
