A TRIP TO CHINATOWN
THIS EVEXIXG. Mr Harry Conor and Messrs TToyt and McKee's. Company arrived from Sydney by the Elingamite early this morning. They commence their twelve nights' seas on at the Opera House this evening with the production of tlje musical' comedy "A Trip to Chinatown.;' .The theatre should be crowded to its utmost, capacity, as people are on the gui vive to see^lr Conor, who comes with the reputation of beinoone .of th.c finest comedians in the Unifed States,, and who, though he has only paid two flying visits to the Australian cities, has become one of the most popular favourites . that Messrs Williamson and Musgrove have introduced to the colonies. In": "A Trip to Chinatown" he is said ,to have a part that exactly suits his quaint methods it. having been specially written for him by the author of the play The creation of laughter is the dominant motive of the piece, ■ which is full of smart, witty dialogue, and the mostludicrous situations. Interspersed throughout the comedy 'is a splendid budget of songs, dances,- and unique specialities, all of which tend to keep the interest unflagging during the three acts. The scenery is by Mr Phil Goatcher.jthe "Firm's" leading painter and as is. invariable with all. Messrs' Williamson and Musgrove's attractions, patrons may rely on a brilliant production so far as all the stage appointments are concerned, and if report speak truly, a performance that ■ will meet with unanimous favour. - An interesting interview with Mr Harry Conor is published on page 3.
