HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Jioaxd was held Monday afternoon. Mr J„ Stichbury (Chairman) presiding. 'The other members of the Board present Were Messrs J. E. Taylor, A. P. Friend, J. Bollard, M.H.R., J. Jamie&on t Ti Allen, A. Bruce, Y. Warren and the Rev, W. F. Wilson.

Nurse.' Home.—The members visited the Nurses' Home, in order to inspect the accommodation there. It Was agreed that twelve mbte beds for nurses were [required, the Board being of the unanimous opinion that further accommodation Was necessary. This wa_ the outcome of Mr Friend's recent suggestions in this matter. It -was stated that there Were several nnr.es ncommodated in the new Costley Ward, and that another was sleeping in the nurses' sitting-room. The Chairman spoke of the necessity for more accommodation, ufttl moved, "That the Board's architect be requested to prepare plans aud estimates to provide for the addition of twentyfive bedrooms to the Nurses' Home, for the enlargement of the dining-room, for the accommodation of the matron and nurses, the same to be submitted at the next meeting of the Board." Mr Jamieson seconded the motion, which was adopted. It was then decided on the motion of Mr Bollard that the architect confer with the Chairman and Matron and report at nest meeting as to the desirability of any alterations to the present Home building for the convenience of the matron and nurses. Painting.—The tender of Mr Simpson (£33) was accepted for the painting of the Hospital basement. Hospital Report.—The report of the Medical Superintendent stated that since the last return 43 males and 20 female patients had been admitted to the Hospital. There had been ten deaths (nine males and one female), and forty male and thirteen female patients 'were discharged. At present date there were 89 male and 40 female patients in the Hospital. 'One patient bad died of typhoid fever, and two "typhoid fever cases had been admitted, one from Onehhnga and one from Nelson-street. Resignations of Nurses.—The resignation of certificate Nurse Gill was received apd accepted. Nurses Giffard and Cooper also wrote resigning their positions, but as neither of them had completed their probationary terms of three years the matter was deferred, pending further explanation. Costley Home.—The report of the Chaditable Aid Committee stating that four patient, had been admitted fo the Costlev Home was adopted.
