NOTES FROM WELLINGTON.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, this day. | THE PALMERSTON MEETING. Quite a. battle royal is raging in political circles over the question whether a vote of thanks and confidence in the Premier was passed at the recent Palmerston North meeting. .Mr Seddon declares that it was, and he is supported by the report in the Alamiwatu "Times." WELLINGTON CITY. It is understood that the accepted candidates in the Ministerial interests are. Messrs Kennedy MaeDonald ami C. M. Luke. Mr Tom Aic.Kenzie Inning -applied to have his name placed on the roll"for Wellington City, this has given rise to conjecture as to whether he is the "dark horse" who is to enter the field at the last moment. The general feeling 'outside extreme Prohibition circles is that the Opposition trio, Messrs J. Hutcheson, Atkinson, and Hislop, will have to greatly moderate their tone on the temperance question if they desire to avoid alienating- a numerous section of voters who might otherwise give them valuable support. This applies especially 1o Mr Atkinson. Another point of which full advantage will be taken by Air Hislop's opponents is the notorious Mulvuney ease. The period that has elapsed since that incident is not long enough to admit of its escaping the memory of the electors. WELLINGTON SUBURBS. The main electoral roll for the Wellington Suburbs electorate bears the names of 5(18! voters, which the supplementary roll will probably bring up to about GOOO. WELLINGTON WORKERS' ASSOCIATION. Mr- W. T. Young, secretary of the Wellington Workers' Political Association, states that at the recent ballot Messrs Naughton, Fisher, aud Collins withdrew from the candidature owing to their having been nominated without their consent. He admits that one of the candidates wa.s accused of packing the meeting, but says the charge was unfounded. WELLINGTON WORKERS' ASSOCIATION. The Wellington Workers' Political Association met last night to decide on steps in connection with the candidature of Mr Hornblow. Only fifteen were present, and no programme was decided. The secretary was instructed to communicate by telegraph with the Premier, asking whether he will accept Mr Hornblow as a Government candidate.
