OTHER CHURCHES

At the Union Free .Church yesterday a young colonial named Rev. R. F. Elder, and who is recently from Spurgeon College, London, preached. During his stay of ten days in Auckland Mr Elder will speak at the Tabernacle and other churches.

Floral services were held yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of the New Church, PompuUer Terrace, Ponsonby. Great taste was manifested in the itioral decorations, and suitable hymns were sung, assistance being given by an efficient orchestra. Addresses were given in the morning by Mr G. lthodes and Mr George Fowlds. In the afternoon -Mr T. L. Stevens conducted the service, at which a paper on "Creation" was read by Mr E. Gutry, and a poem recited by Miss D. Backhouse. The service in the evening was conducted by Mr J. Ware, two papers being read by Miss Rhodes and Mr J. Walsh. The musical part of the service was conducted by Mr Geo. Plummer.

The Sunday School anniversary of the Pakuranga Wesleyan Church was held yesterday. Appropriate sermons were preached afternoon and evening by the Rev. Mr Pinfold. There were good congregations, especially at the evening service. Specially prepared hymns were sung by the children, and were much appreciated. The annual treat will be held on Wednesday next at the "Mountain."
