THAMES, Saturday.
In showery and blustering weather the Tarara seniors began their match against St. Albans seniors this afternoon. Batting first, the latter scored 80, the last five wickets falling at the same total. Tararu before call of time had made 43 for 2 wickets. Carter and Cantley batting well. Scores:— St. Albans, Ist innings: Low, b Carter, 17; T. Derecourt, b Niccol, 24; A. Laing, b New* ton, 5; J. Pratt, c Cantley, b Carter. 5; J* Lang, b Newton, 24; A. Billing, b Carter, 2; T. Billing, c and b Carter, 0; Adams, _ Carter, 0; H. Derecourt, lbw, b Newton, 0; H. Lang, not out, 0; Lawson, b Carter, 0; extras, 3: total, 80. Carter took 6 wicketa for 32, Newton 3 for 18, Nicoll 2 for 10. Tararu, 1..t innings: Niccol. c Adams, b Low, 1; Carter, b J. Lang, 20; Cantley, not out, 21; extras, 1: total, 43.
In the junior grade Essendon scored 18 against Foundry Second's 93 for 8 wickets: and Tarara Second scored 52 and 29 for .2 wickets against St. Albans B's 81 and 35.
In the Schools Championship the High School scored 81 for 7 wickets, and got Sandes-street School out for 9. Torrens taking 8 wickets for 3 ruQS, getting four with' successive balls. Donovan scored 43. ■~-,
