THE CITY ELECTION.

(To the Editor.)

Dear Sir,—ln view of the fact that the Executive of the Liberal Association have clone me the honour to send me a written request to withdraw from the forthcoming Parliamentary contest, I shall be glad if you will allow me to state that I have not the slightest intention of complying with .ich request. I have indicated in my various speeches the lines of my political platform, and am absolutely determined to go to the poll against all-

comers. ~ Let me add that I hope that the electors will not .allow themselves to be coerced into the adoption of any ticket, but will give their votes to those whom they consider will make the most suitable representatives tor the important electorate of Auckland. Trusting you will do me the favour of inserting these few lines.—l am, etc
