TALISMAN.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

PAEROA, this day

During the past four weeks this company's operations have not revealed anything of a phenomenal nature, but they have nevertheless proved the Talisman lode to be continuous for 1100 feet at No. 4 level, which at the southern end is 400 feet below the surface of the hill. At this No. 4 level the lode in the face is from two feet to two feet six inches wide and of payable quality. It is encased in good country, and there is every indication that within a short space of time a fresh run of gold will be met with in the reef. From the face of this level the lode is intact up to the surface, a distance of 400 feet. At No. 5 level the drive has been continued along the course of the reef, which is five feet in thickness, and of good appearance. The manager expects that next month the No. 2 shoot of ore met with in the No. 4 level -ibove will be encountered here, as a great quantity of water is coming from this point. At, No. 6 level a. crosscut is being driven to pick up the lode in. the Bonanza section. In No. 7 level a leading stope has been carried along 150 feet southwards, and the men have now commenced to break out the, quartz. The reef in the stopes is a splendid body of stone, from six to twelve feet in width, and the whole of it of good enouo-h quality to be sent to the mill. The crosscut from No. 1 level in the Talisman section has been driven into the Bonanza section, and stoping has just-been commenced on a nice reef about two feet thick. A crosscut lias also been commenced some distance to the west to cut a parallel lode to the Talisman. This western reef outcrops on the surface five feet wide, and the present drive will give 120 feet of backs. Twenty feet more should bring this reef to light at No. 5, 2, 3, and .4 levels. Stoping operations are being carried on, and a supply of ore sent to the mill. From pi-esent indications it appears probable the next return will considerably exceed tbe last, though it may be the month following before the effect of the present frond duality of stone being won is felt - '
