TAIRUA NOTES.

A very successful miscellaneous entertainment was given in the Tairua Hall on November 11th' in aid of the Mercury Bay Hospital Fund. There was a large and appreciative audience. A tableau, "Pulaski," or "Take Thy Banner-," was depicted by Mrs I!. Barker as Lady Superior, and Mesdames Batchelor and Pulham, and the Misses Hudson (3), Hull, H. A. Simpson. Geard, Allen, Pulham (2), McGregor, Diseombc, and Collins, as nuns. A tableaux. "Gipsy Encampment," was effectively staged, the respective parts being taken by Misses Pulham (2), Geard, Discombo, McGregor, and Messrs G. W. Moore and W. Bell. Several songs by the school children (trained by Miss Collins) were highly appreciated by the audience, as were also songs and instrumental items contributed by many friends. The syim of £7 7/ was realised, and as the Government granted a subsidy of 24/ per £, that represents a total 'of £1G odd.
