COMPLAINT AGAINST THE AUS
IRIAN CONSUL
(By Telegraph—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, October 13
Strong feeling was evoked amongst Auckland members by correspondence read in ih<; House by Mr Scobie McKcnzic in the discussion on the Kauri Gum Hill, lie correspondence made serious reflections upon the. Government and aibged ill-treatment of Austri'tns. Mr Mackenzie?, when challenged to divulge the author of the letter, shrank from doing so. It has transpired since that the letter emanated from, the Austrian Consul at Auckland. The Premier intends to make representations to the Austrian Government through Ihe Governor and Foreign Office against the consul abusing his position by endeavouring 11 use improper influence on members of Parliament. Probably a, demand will be made for the consul.* dismissal.
