FAME AND FORTUNE.

A trial parcel of SO loads ore, irom all parts of (he mine yielded Sso/.s gold. BULLION (TAPU). Manuel and Plummer, tributers, crushed 25 tons of ore for a yield of lOOoz 16dwt gold, value about £3 5/ per ounce. TIIAMES-lIAURAKI. Pumping has been resumed in the shaft, and after being at a standstill for a fortnight the pumps are now giving satisfaction. MOANATAIART. During the. past four weeks tributers in the New Moanataiari mi no crushed 31) tons of quartz for 121oz lHdwt of gold, worth £330 17/7. WAIOTAHI RETURN. The return from the Waiotahi mine for the past month's operations resulted in 1470z of bullion being obtained, worth about £-100 .12/2, from 95 tons of ore. This is a slight improvement upon the previous month's output. PURIRI GOLD INSTATES. The London directors of this Company have decided to vigorously develop the Puriri Gold Estates property This decision is the outcome, of the fact that live bags of ore from the various reefs discovered were sent to London, gave assay results ranging from a trace of gold, to £7 10/, £10 10/, and £36 per ton. PURU CONSOLIDATED. A parcel of 40 tons of ore from the Puru Consolidated bus been treated at that company's battery, and returned bullion worth £63 7/10. This, it is considered, would pay well if plenty of ore of similar value could be won from the mine, as hitherto the cost, of mining and milling has not exceeded 15/ per ton. Anotlicr parcel is now being broken out. TAIRUA BROKEN HILLS. Gratifying reports have, been received by the Company that purchased the Broken Hills property tut Tairua. It appears as the outcome of prospecting operations at No. 1 level the reef was found to be 26 feet in thickness, and for a length of 26 feet gave most satisfactory assays. At a distance of 40 feet the reef south-east also gave payable assays, while for 80 feet further on the same reef assays of a payable character were obtained, but not so satisfactory as the others. VICTORIA. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Victoria Gold Mining Company was held in the Chamber of Mines, at which Mr CI. S. Lissling presided. The annual report stated that during the year the mine had been worked by tributers, as the directors were waiting until the ThamesHauraki pump drained the mine sufficiently to allow of the lower levels being worked. The accounts showed total receipts, £1,059/14, and the expenditure left a credit balance of £209/9/5. ECLIPSE. Works in connection with flic erection of plant- at Tararu Creek arc now well advanced. A considerable tonnage of ore has been broken out at the mine, and is being conveyed to the mill ready for treatment. The miue is well opened up and should produce payable ore. Eclipse (Tararu).— Crushing at the company's new ten stamper battery commenced to-day. Everything, including carial tramway, is working splendidly. ORION GOLD MINING COMPANY. At the statutory meeting of shareholders in the Orion Goldmining Company, the directors' report stated that the aerial tramway would be completed early in December. The report also expressed the confidence of the directors that, the mine would turn out large bodies of ore, which with the inexpensive mode of treatment and working at small cost, the battery being driven by water power, should return shareholders interest in the shape of dividends. It is estimated crushing will commence about the second week in December, and that the battery will be equal to treating about 300 tons of ore per jnonth.

EimUNm-CALEDONTAN. Operations have been resumed in. the Kuruntii-Caledonian Company's mine at the Thames, with a view to the development of the Cambria main reef below No. 3 level. A winze is being sunk beneath No. 3 level in order to intersect the underlie of the reef, which has been worked near the boundary by the Moanataiari Company. ! The'underlie of the reef should be to hand in about a fortnight's time, and the possibility of finding payable gold at this point is considered promising. The complete return from tributers crushing in the Kuruntii-Caledonian Company's ground for tlie past month was £832 16/5, from 65 loads of ore and 2721bs of picked stone. MOANATAIARI RETURN. The New Moanatairi return from a crushing on behalf of the company is a remunerative and satisfactory one, and augurs well for future operations. A total of 75 tons of ore treated yielded 70ozs 14dwts of gold, valued at £194 14/4. This tonnage included two different lots of ore. One parcel was comprised of 39 tons, and was broken out from Ithe main reef at the three level, and gave tho excellent reyielded 12ozs 2dwts of gold, value £33 7/6. The other parcel of 36 tons was broken from the Cambria reef at four level, ..and gave the excellent return of 53 ozs 12dwts of gold, value £161 6/10. The last-mentioned return coming from what may be termed as yet an untried section of the mine augurs well for future success, especially as it is understood the prospects of Hie reef are daily improving. HAURAKI ASSOCIATED. The manager reports: During the month work has been principally confined to opening out at 45ft. down the winze on fhe footwall leader. Driving has been in progress both east and west. The eastern drive, is along a distance of 20ft., and the Cross reef has been met with. Dabs of gold are seen at every breaking down, both in the footwall leader and the Cross i-cvA. but nothing rich has been secured. The -western drive has been carried along 17ft., and a. stope over it. for 10ft. in length. Gold has also been freely seen through the quartz broken, though like the eastern end nothing rich has been met, with. The fact, of gold having been i seen so freely distributed through the ore shows (that we are in a golden locality, and a patch may be, met, with al, any time. A little work has also been done on the leader at the Rise intermediate level. The leader at this point is a nice compact body of stone from 2 to 4 inches in width, though nothing- of importance has been met with here since my hist report. Only about Oft of the leader has been broken down. At a point 30ft. above the No. 1 level, on the foot Willi leader, a patch of good ore was secured early in the month by tributers, but nothing of importance has been secured since, though dabs of gold are seen occasionally through the quartz broken out. This party has just completed a crushing of 1301bs. of picked slone for a return of 760/.s. of retorted gold, of the value of about- £210. Tributers in the Rainbow end section at. No. 2 level: The lead at this point is rather small, and the country hard. Slbs. picked stone have been secured for tin 1 month.
