» After we went to press yesterday afternoon the following business was transacted at the meeting- of the Auckland Board of Education: — Applications for Schools.—Several applications for the establishment of new schools in country districts were received. Of these two were for the establishment of schools at Avoca and Ounuwhao. about 14 and 7 or 8 miles i from Dargaville respectively. The applications were referred "to the Inspec- ; tor fV.n application for the re-open-ingl of the school at EiVerhead was deferred pending- inquiries as to a suitable building. A request from Tau-i-in«a for an infant school in Harrington 0 street was read, and it was decided to adhere to the previous decision of the "Board. An application for n. school on the Rnngiatea Estate, Waitoa Valley, near Te Aroha. was referred to the Inspectors for a reI>O paeroa.-A report adverse to the requested enlargement of the Poeroa school was read, and it was decided to -end a copy to the School Committee.
