LATE RACING.

AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB SPUING MEETING.

LATEST NOTES

(By Cable.—Press Association.)

SYDNEY, this day

The Eandwdck tracks were in excellent order this morning-, and a lot of good work was done. Superb, with a lig-ht weight up, ran a mile and a quarter on the tan. in 2min 17sec. Mr J. AJlsopp's Severity, probably carrying from ten to twelve pounds above handicap weight, carved out a mile on the course proper in Imin 4S.}sec. This is the gallop of the season. Severity was assisted in the first half by Carbien, the time being 50fsec. Trenchant assisted in the last half of the journey. Severity finished exceptionally straight a.nd full of "go." Ottoman took Imin 49.{see to cover a mile. AVatercolour had the best of Fitzroy over a similar journey, finished in Imin 48Jsec. Auld Lang Syne, Condiment, Alderman, and The Kiss also negotiated the Epsom Handicap distance of one mile in such a convincing manner that the race is anything but a foregone conclusion. Blue Metal covered a circuit in 2min 37?. Bobadil, Cocos, Cravat, Plutus, Dewey, and Plodden were associated in a, gallop of once round, and finished in the following order: Flodden, Dewey, Bobad il, Cravat, Plutus, and Cocos, the last named being a long way in the rear. The time recorded was 2min 39-Jsec. As the result of this morning's gallop Severity is firmer for the Epsom Handicap, and the gelding is likely to 'be a better favourite than Superb.
