LONDON, September 5. The Australians' first inning's closed South of England closed for 150.
The Home team had lost 4 wickets for 127 when play ceased for the day
yesterday
The weather was oppressive when the game was resumed to-day, and the wicket was difficult for the batsmen. There was a good attendance.
The English innings closed before one o'clock for 183. Ranjisinhji was dismissed by Howell, without adding to his overnight score. Howell captured 7 wickets for 57 runs.
The Australians, with a deficit of 33 in the first inning's, went to the wickets again, and at the luncheon adjournment had scored CO for the loss of- 3 wickets.
Then Noble and Darling became associated, and brought tho score past the century. Noble was ultimately dismissed lbw by Townseud for 41. The score now stands at 115 for 4 wickets, Darling being 45 (not out).
