The barque Grace Deerlng is now 124 days out on the voyage from New York to Wellington. She has part cargo for this port. The barque Star of the East has left New York for Wellington and Auckland with a cargo of merchandise. On discharge of local consignments she will load kauri gum for New York. The brlgantine Linda Weber has received a thorough overhaul on Messrs Henderson and Spraggon's slip, and is to be re-launch-ed to-morrow. She has been re-coppered and strengthened, and her rigging has been renewed. She wiir load timber at Hokianga for Wellington.

The second-class French cruiser Trotet is due at Noumea from Cherlbon, Java, on a visit. She is a very fine vessel of 4000 tons displacement, steams 19 knots, and Is almost new. She was built at Bordeaux at a cost of £825,000. Her hull Is steel and sheathed with wood, and she is armed with four Gin quick-firers, and 10 41n guns.

The new Tyser steamer Indradevi for the London-Australasian trade is now being litted with refrigerators by Messrs J. E. Hull, Limited, the machinery to be on their patent carbonic anhydride system, this being in consequence of the satisfactory results obtained with the same system on the steamer Indraghiri fitted some time since. The saving in coal consumption over the older air-compression system is said to belarge, and the old prejudice is so fast dying away that other owners who have previously had only the older air-compression machine are adopting the newer and more economical system.
