To-day the Australian cricketers continued their match at Birmingham against an eleven representing1 the Midlar/d Counties. Diver is wiekeikeeping in place of Lilley, who has injured his hand. The Australians went to the wickets for their second innings. The third wicket fell at 67, and at hicheon live wickets were down for 139. The Australians have now lost six wickets for 179. The following are the scores: — AUSTRALIANS.—First innings... 192 MIDLAND COUNTIES.—First innings 185 AUSTRALIANS.-Second Innings. Noble's score of 63 brings his aggregate for the tour up to 1053 runs. He is the first of the Australian team to reach the thousand, and as the cable Ims not yet recorded a. similar feat by an Englishman this season it is to be presumed that the young Syciaey player is the first batsman in England to make 1000 runs in first-class cricket his season. This is undoubtedly a great performance, especially for a player who is visiting England with a cricket team for the first time.
